Anyone seen Outspring Mail?

Postby MCroft » Mon Mar 31, 2008 11:56 am

Anyone looked at Outspring Mail yet?

Any features worth borrowing? I like the idea of a mail client that creates rules by learning what I do. Sorta expands the self-learning spam filter concept.

However, the market is tough:
New Mac email client: Outspring Mail: http://outspring.com/. Downloaded, installed, launched: crash. Launch again: crash. Dragged to trash.

I tried it. It looks nice, however it lacks:

1) Filters
2) A "Send-again" button
3) A unified "Who" column
4) The ability to edit (i.e. alter) messages that have come in, and their subject lines.

In addition I created mailboxes in the wrong places initially, and was unable to move them - I had to delete/recreate.

So, all-in-all, not of any interest.

Oh, I had no trouble getting it to run, setting up an acct was easy and I received lots of mail and sent one or two. I didn't like its quoting style, however. It's supposed to "learn" about your filing habits and then do it, I suppose this is viewed as better than filters for numpties, but it didn't seem to work for me. After I had moved 47 more or less identical mails (trouble tickets, in fact) into a new mailbox, it still didn't know what to do with the next one. And that's going to be very limiting, anyway, as an approach.
