Continuing problem in b14:

I noted for b9 (http://www.infinitydatasystems.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=482&p=3496#p3496) that RELPYing or FORWARDing mail that is html only gives this in the body:

-----Begin Quoted Message-----

-----End Quoted Text-----

This behavior has changed slightly in b14, but it is still completely counter-intuitive at best, and downright messed up at worst.

For FORWARDed html messages, the following appears in the body:

-----HTML Part Attached-----

(Nothing else is visible.)

When REPLYing, however, the following appears:

The inability to edit the message or even see its contents needs to be addressed before Odysseus can be considered viable, I think.

Thank you.

That's one of the things we're working on. In the case you're describing, the original message is attached, its simply not displaying.

I keep having a couple of related weird problems. It usually happens when I have downloaded a group of emails, then go to the junk folder to designate emails that are not junk. I then need to close the IN box ( none of the ex-junk emails will show there until I close and reopen the IN box).

There are two variations of my problem; the first is that I can't get the IN box to open up at all, the application crashes, and when I restart the application everything that was in my IN box is now in the Trash box.

The second is a variation of the first. After closing the IN box opens, and I start to read my emails, suddenly the display freezes, I get the spinning ball, and it crashes. All of my IN box in the Trash box as before.

Also, a comment about aesthetics. Someone else mentioned that in Eudora, mailboxes that have new mail in them are designated by underlining, while Odx. uses a boldface. I find the boldface hard to spot, and prefer underlining. Also, in Eudora the mailboxes with new mail in them would automatically open, Odx. doesn't. I prefer the Eudora approach.

Looking forward to beta 15,

Marty

I don't want mailboxes all opening by themselves, even as tabs. However, I do agree that boxes with mail in them need better highlighting - bold and underlining, perhaps? Also folders containing boxes with unread mail need to be highlighted.

I actually agree with martyb. Eudora's ability to open the mailboxes with new mail is one of its most useful features. I find it particularly helpful in keeping track of filtered mail. The lack of this auto-open ablity in Apple's Mail is, perhaps, one of the two major reasons I have not switched to that application.

Well, I see you're using Classic mode; I use unified. Personally I don't want lots of windows in a mail app. Hence, in fact I prefer win-Eudora to the Mac version. One window, so I can move the whole app easily to another display. If I'm looking at 5 mails, composing 4 others, and am dealing with 6 or 7 mailboxes at this particular moment, I don't want to have 15 windows cluttering up the screen.

Still, I wouldn't object to that eventually being a feature as long as I could turn it off.

Auto-open is an option in Eudora.

I prefer to read new mail in the In box, then use the manual filter to move read mail to the appropriate mailboxes So the absence of an option to set filters as Manual Incoming or Outgoing is a problem for me in the current version of Odysseus.

I've never used a Mac, but it sounds to me that there must be differences between Mac Eudora and Widows Eudora.

On Windows, I see mailboxes containing unread mail highlighted by bold, not underlining. I suppose I prefer the bold due to familiarity, but probably don't find it a big deal either way.

I also prefer that mailboxes containing new mail "open", but what that means to me based on how Windows Eudora behaves is that I get a tab for the mailbox containing the new mail. I probably wouldn't like it either if a completely new window actually appeared.

You hit the nail on the head Bob. The Windows and Mac versions of Eudora are substantially different in interface and, in some ways, even function. Our challenge is to duplicate both methods... without unnecessarily forking the code base like Eudora.

I also love having mailboxes open automatically in Eudora; I really want this behavior in Odx, also. In addition, my mailboxes in Eudora show in bold and underlined when there's mail. Just in case I've missed seeing something open, this helps a lot.
