I find the boldface hard to spot, and prefer underlining. Also, in Eudora the mailboxes with new mail in them would automatically open, Odx. doesn't. I prefer the Eudora approach.

I don't want mailboxes all opening by themselves, even as tabs. However, I do agree that boxes with mail in them need better highlighting - bold and underlining, perhaps? Also folders containing boxes with unread mail need to be highlighted.

For information purposes, Eudora Mac's behavior concerning the display of mailboxes with unread mail is governed by an X-setting:

<x-eudora-setting:9602>
Style to use for mailboxes with unread mail. Bold=1, italics=2,
Underline=4. Add numbers for combinations of styles.

To implement, paste "<x-eudora-setting:9602>" into a Eudora message and doubleclick.

I hope that Odx will eventually provide the flexibility and customization available with X-settings on Mac Eudora, albeit in a more convenient interface.

Indeed! The incredible flexibility offered by X-settings was/is fabulous (although AptDoc is correct that the "interface" was less than beautiful).

This would, of course, be the best solution. Flexible configuration is always appreciated.

I insist on the fact that accents are still not handle correctly — see my message above for examples of messages not displayed correctly.
I now discovered that some messages are not displayed at all. Here is an example of header:

I also noticed that it is now impossible to create a new mailbox in Odx... When will this functionality come back?

Junk Filtering is NOT working well for me

Postby davebarnes » Fri Feb 06, 2009 6:42 pm

I set the Junk Filtering level to medium.
For 5 days I have manually marked each email that was initially put into the incorrect mailbox (either In or Junk).
And, still, my false positive rate is 10%. That is, 10% of the messages in my Junk mailbox are not junk.
My false negative rate is running about 50%. Way too many crap messages in my inbox.

I had been suspicious of both beta 13 and 14 regarding deleting old emails, so today I checked my mail with Odx, then fired up my old computer and did the same with my old Eudora. It downloaded 818 emails, with the earliest date being January 17, 2009! So despite my setting of retaining emails for 5 days, Odx is NOT deleting any.

I still have the problem with not being able to open the IN box if I have closed it. It doesn't matter if I click on the IN box in the mailbox window, click on the IN icon in the toolbar, or use the keyboard shortcut, it won't open. What it will do occasionally is crash the application, and then move my entire IN box to the trash mailbox. Decidedly unfriendly. Therefore, after reclassifying email in my JUNK folder, I have to close out of Odx and restart it to make the not-junk email appear in my IN box. Too bad the IN box doesn't dynamically update.

I'm using the classic view. If I open the Trash mailbox to confirm that I want to delete everything (for reasons mentioned in the previous paragraph), then while the trash box is open I use the pull down menu to empty trash, a new unified window showing an empty trash box opens up on top of everything.

Odx still doesn't display Infoworld emails at all. I know it is a coding issue from Infoworld, but it was fixed somewhere around beta 8 or so, and worked well up until about beta 11, when it stopped working again. Clearly your in-house beta testing does not include a regression test to be sure that you haven't inadvertently lost fixes implemented in earlier releases.

All of these issues are on an iMAC running OS-X 10.5.6.

b14 is failing to send messages most of the time. It appears to be repeatedly opening a connection with the mail server but not sending anything, i.e. the packets seem to be empty, as in some earlier version prior to b12. message doesn't not appear in outbox. sometimes after quitting or force quitting and restarting the message does appear in the outbox. sporadically the message does seem to be received in another account but I am not a sure what sequence makes this occur. the odysseus log contains no information about outgoing mail connections. Unified view. intel iMAC 10.5.6

Absolutely! I have always liked this feature. It is incredibly useful; I rely on it totally. Please include it in Odysseus!

1.0b14 Program Crash:

Open Special/Preferences.

click in sequence:
Accounts
Checking Mail
Sending Mail
Replying
Attachments
Junk Mail
Fonts & Display
Mailbox Display

Crash.... (XP brings up box that says "Ody... encountered a problem...")

This sequence was done as the first thing after uninstall/reinstall Odx. The preference boxes do contain some of my changes/entries from previous encounters with Odx, but no entries were made during this sequence.
